Taxi stands are conveniently located throughout the urban sections of Delhi, near hotels and convenient to shopping areas. | ||

Taxis usually come quite promptly when summoned by
telephone. You will probably find them convenient and in most instances less
expensive than operating your own vehicle. Taxis are metered and tipping is
not required. There is usually a surcharge for trips to the airport, and
understandably so - when you realize that the driver will probably have to
return empty on his return trip; you can also expect an extra charge for luggage.
Private taxis can be hired for both local and distance trips. The larger hotels can arrange one for you. There is a reasonable fee for overnight retention. These are large, foreign-manufactured automobiles; the mileage rate and the overnight retention rate is less expensive for non-airconditioned models.
